Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Love the soup and salad, of course, and have never been disappointed with my entrée. The wait staff is typically friendly and attentive and the facility clean and tidy. Great place for families, but not really my pick for a date night as it can tend to be a bit busy and not very intimate. I love that there are usually a few healthy options on the menu too!

Went here with my girlfriend last weekend and it was one of the best Olive Garden experiences that I have had in a while. Maybe it was because they were slow at the time, but the food and service were very good!
(5)Melissa R.
Doesn't disappoint. You get exactly what you came in for - massive quantities of salad topped with as much freshly ground cheese as the waiter can churn and limitless supplies of warm breadsticks that are oh-so-delicious when used to soak up the last of the house viniagrette at the bottom of your salad plate. Nothing fancy, but filled with memories of high school prom and sweaty palms.

We made our monthly trip to Olive Garden. Today's visit was great. All 3 of us had the soup, salad & bread sticks. The food is always consistently good. Our Server was Pat (female). Pat was wonderful. She was pleasant, attentive and a great server. If you go to this Olive Garden, make sure to ask for her!

Here's a story for you. My 83 year old grandmother and her friend went to this location for lunch on Wednesday May 25th. As all of you are aware, much of the metro was experiencing funnel clouds and dangerous conditions for tornadoes. There were funnel clouds spotted at 142 and Nall, 135th and Metcalf, 95th and State Line, 61st and Wardparkway, just to name a few! So as they were driving at 11AM that day, they weren't aware that danger was imminent. When they arrived at this location at 11:15, the sirens were blaring so they quickly ran up to the door, only to find that the manager had locked it. The manager came to the door and told them because of the emergency, they weren't allowed to let anyone in! Those customers already in were allowed to leave if desired, but no body was allowed in. They soon had company as others came for lunch. As one lady reportedly started kicking the door and hitting it to get inside, the manager put a sign on the door saying no one was allowed in! So all these people are standing under the overhang, listening to sirens, not sure what to do. Unbelievable! All it takes is for the tornado to drop, miss the building by a block or two and launch a street sign and it could kill a human being standing outside a restaurant! I can't believe the insensitivity of their corporate policy and I will never eat at an Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze, or Seasons 52 again. Here is my email to OG and their response! They act like I was upset that my grandma wasn't allowed in to eat Chicken Alfredo! She just wanted to be inside a structure, they missed the whole point! Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to know about the supposed policy that requires managers to shut the door and lock out customers showing up while tornado sirens are going off, and funnel clouds are blocks away. My 83 year old grandmother went to the 6750 W 95th Street Overland Park, KS 66212 location today, and as I'm sure your corporate office is aware, we experienced a very dangerous storm today. Luckily there was no damage or fatalities to my knowledge. At shortly after 11 AM central sirens went off all over the metro, just as my grandmother and her friend arrived. As they tried to enter, a manager came to the door and said they weren't allowed to let anyone in the building, and locked it!!! Leaving not only my grandmother and her friend, but also other customers who started arriving. One woman almost broke the door down, and I only wish I had been there to help her. A note was placed on the door at one point saying no one was allowed inside. RIDICULOUS! I worked retail and understand about ushering customers to coolers, freezers, internal areas...and regardless of your available space it seems that being inside a structure is better than a parking lot, agreed? Your company is quite financially fortunate that nothing tragic happened to the group of people outside this door, I imagine it would have cost you dearly if a few had been impaled by debris and all your restaurant building suffered was a few missing shingles. You've lost my entire family and every person I tell about this asinine experience. Those people were in transit to your restaurant, probably counting on being inside a building as soon as they got there, only to find out your supposed policy is to lock the doors?! I will give some time for an adequate response and explanation of your severe weather policy, and then I will make sure this story is posted on the Facebook of myself, my wife, and anyone else willing. Absolutely ridiculous. Sadly, my grandmother and her friend continued to eat at this restaurant after the storm passed. Dear Brad: Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We are very sorry we were unable to serve you at our Overland Park restaurant. Our goal is to always provide exceptional service to our guests, yet we are faced with a dilemma. Because of the increasing need for security measures, we have been forced to set a procedure regarding operating hours. Our intention is never to inconvenience you and we want to assure you our manager's actions were not meant to offend your grandmother. We value your business and we hope you will understand this is done only as a safety precaution. Thank you for selecting Olive Garden. A complimentary gift card has been mailed to you as an expression of our desire to see you again. We look forward to delighting you with our great food, friendly service, and commitment to your security while dining with us. Chris

The Olive Garden is certainly not a place for authentic Italian food. If you are looking for al dente pasta served with the delicate flavor of fresh ingredients lovingly assembled as your Nona might make in her kitchen, you are in the wrong place. I can give you recommendations for such a thing, but it won't be at this chain. The Olive Garden operates under the "sauce it and toss it" attitude; however, for what they serve here, they do it efficiently. For a good deal, I enjoy the soup/salad/breadsticks luncheon special. You get a large quantity of food--as much as you please--for a reasonable price. Add in a Coca-Cola (hooray for good soda pop in the fountain!) and I am reasonably content. The atmosphere has undergone recent decorating changes, evidentially to raise the level of experience for the chain's patrons. Although it still falls squarely in the realm of casual dining, there has been a noticeable effort to--to use a colloquialism--"class up the joint." The staff generally seems to be both efficient and friendly. Some servers are more attentive than others, but pretty much all of them are worthy of good reviews. (When I have asked for a final refill of soda pop in a to-go cup, for the road--a good test of a friendly and accommodating server--everyone has been happy and eager to meet the request) And best yet, the Olive Garden is quite family friendly. They even go so far as to have a fun searching game in the kids menu where children can place stickers in the scene upon finding the same "characters" on the page (better than a word search as even illiterate toddlers can amuse themselves). Although I cannot really give the Olive Garden four stars, simply because the food, while adequate, is not worthy of four stars, the friendliness merits high marks. Perhaps 3.5 stars would better represent this restaurant chain.

Olive Garden has ok food, that's the best way to describe it. After you're finished, it makes you wonder why there was a wait at 5:30 pm on a Saturday for this food. The wait staff is always friendly even if they are swamped or if they mess up an order. Our dinner tonight started fine, we had an appetizer combo of stuffed mushrooms and calamari. Got the chicken and gnocchi soup instead of the salad, which we always do. Then the service started getting a little off, First they forget a side on the kids meal (a small cup of grapes). Second, they, bring out the wrong entree for my wife and then take a little long getting her the right entree. Our server, however, was always good to take care of us and made sure that the entree was comped. When we paid we were told that we can use the new "Ziosk" tablet machine on our table to pay with the credit card. Now, this should be a lesson to anyone at any restaurant to double check the math when a receipt or a Ziosk gives you a suggested tip percentage. I realized after I checked the receipt at home that it includes the comped item in the total when calculating the tip percentage. So I paid a little more than I probably wanted to for a flawed service. Bottomline, ok food, friendly wait staff, but kitchen mix ups and bad Ziosk/receipt math for comped food makes going here a mixed experience.

Not only did we receive terrible service, we called the manager to complain and were promised a gift card would be mailed to us. We never received said card.

So, Olive Garden revamped the way they appear, but unfortunately the good has take a dip both quality and quantity wise. This was an extremely disappointing drive to an Olive Garden 45 minutes from home just because we had heard that they have a revamped look. I think what has happened (at least with this location) is that the resources have been spent like crazy revamping the appearance of the damn establishment while skimping out on the quality and quantity of the food. Honestly, the only thing we ordered that was even remotely good were the French fries on the kiddie menu. The lasagna was pasty, bread was rock solid, salads were wilted, chicken Marsala had little to no gravy on the chicken and the potatoes were not seasoned. And the waiter forgot the fondue (thank god he did, I do not want to find out what it tastes like after such a disastrous service). It's times like these I wish yelp had a half star rating because that is what I would give this place. Word of advice - stay away from this location, stay far far away. All this place is, is a waste of your time and money. You have been warned.

We ordered carry out last night and it was absolutely terrible. For 30 dollars we got hard breadsticks that were barely edible and 2 chicken alfredos that barely had sauce. Super bland. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!!!!

Look, there's way too many "hipsters" that turn their nose up at chains like OG. There are good chains out there and OG is one of them. Is their food amazing? No. Can it be very good? Yes. I've been to this location several times and the food is almost always very good, cooked properly, with a friendly wait staff, good management, and good ambiance. Unlike it's former sister chain (Red Lobster: See also has gone so far downhill that it + Applebee's are sleeping together); OG give consistently good food at good prices. When you + a friend can eat there for less than $30 and probably have leftovers (that you'll actually want to eat) for lunch the next day; you're doing it right.

The service and the cuisine at this Olive Garden are outstanding. In one example, I decided to dine there the other evening. I sat in the lounge area and the service was so attentive even though they were busy. The server made a drink I like even though it wasn't on the menu. She took time to explain the menu items, She boxed my food when I was ready to leave and chatted with me about the news of the day. I was so impressed.

While I realIze that Olive Garden is not a premium Italian restaurant I do expect the restaurant to be have some basics. This place is a MESS! Tables needed to be bussed and say completely understand attended for our entire meal. Meanwhile the waitress was seated at a table texting. I've Never had good service at any Olive Garden regardless of location except the Fayetteville, AR. The bathrooms were unattended. Just very disappointing. All that said our waiter, Jorge, was awesome! The only reason they get two stars is because if him.

We eat out once a month and this time choose olive garden bad choice. We were five all together appetizer was a mix fried zucchini and stuffed mushrooms it was not good the zucchini wasn't done. Then comes main course my meal was fettuccine Alfardo with steak I asked for well done steak it came in rear asked to get it cooked more she brought in another two pieces they were not done either the rest of the meals ok. My little ones pizza came 10 min after the others meal and was no or sauce at all. Will not go there again.

The food took a very long time and the pasta was cold when it finally arrived. We ordered straight from the menu with two adult orders and two kids orders so it wasn't complicated. With so many choices for Italian I would go somewhere else.
(2)Meredith R.
The food is very... meh... and the service usually is about on that level too. It's not flat out awful, but it's not very good either. The drink choices are far too limited (hope you like generic wine) and the portions are absurdly huge. I don't need an entire pound of alfredo and pasta that won't reheat well as leftovers. The Zuppa Tuscana soup is very tasty though. That's about the only thing I like there.

So....how to begin....my husband had never been to an Olive Garden in his life! like EVER!!! After years together and him asking I finally caved and said "fine, we can go to OG but don't expect anything spectacular." I'm obviously a total food snob. This past weekend we ventured out to JoCo on a Saturday night. I was dreading it from the minute I agreed to go. I was pleasantly surprised! There was no wait when we arrived, we were quickly sat and attended by our server, and ummmmm...the food was pretty good. This is something that I definitely did not expect from previous trips to OG. Everything came out promptly, our server was knowledgeable about their menu (but had no clue about wine or beer) it was a pleasant little trip with some good people watching. I'm not a fan or large chain restaurants so I'm not positive if I'll venture out here again but it was a nice introduction to OG for my hubs.

We arrived and they sat us at a dirty table. I started to wipe some stuff off the table and the older Asian hostess just said oh sorry and didn't bother to clean it, she just walked away -_-
(3)David M.
I love Olive Garden and think this one is a good one. Never had a problem with food or service. The new remodel looks great as well. I have used the take out a few times and that is great as well.

Hm....ok, so given that this is a national chain restaurant the review will the mixed. Especially because as a general rule I am NOT a fan of Olive Garden. In fact the last time I was at an Olive Garden was when I was 7 or 8 years old. However, that being said the experience was not a bad one. First, the food. As my boyfriend and I were here before going to watch a friend's band play we both ordered the 3-course menu for $13. Salads, ravioli and bucatini, and desert. The food was....mediocre Italian food. Nothing to fancy or special...in all honesty I feel that my homemade pasta sauce is several times better. And the deserts...well because the Chocolate Mousse Cake was unavailable we were able to select the tiramisu and raspberry cheese cake. The tiramisu was...meh, a bit on the dry side; and the cheesecake...it tasted like pink. What really redeemed the whole experience was the service. Our server was Ryan and he went out of the way to make sure our experience was a good one. Was friendly and attentive without hovering and went out of his way to see that we got deserts that satisfied us. Also spend sometime chatting with us and made the experience very pleasant. The service was infinitely better than the food. While overall a good experience...probably won't be back as I'm still not a fan of the food.

Service is below average. Food is expensive for what you get. Place is outdated and dingy.

GLASS IN OUR SALAD, !!!!! MY family and I went to the local Olive Garden at 95th & Metcalf. It was bad from the start we told them we had a party of 5 and the manager said it would be 20 minutes, they had several large tables open to accommodate us. We finally get seated and get our drinks and salad. as I take a bite of my salad I bite down on a piece of broken glass. We inform our server the manager comes to our table and we let him know of the incident. He could not of cared less! Taking no precautions of serving salad. We informed the tables around us.

Lemon cream cake is worth the calories. Every last one!!!!

Let me get it out of the way. We all know that no one goes to Olive Garden for authenticity. That being said, soup/salad/breadsticks makes a reasonable lunch when you want the faux-Tuscan equivalent of comfort food. (I confess a weakness for the chicken gnocchi soup.) Our server David checked on us frequently, made sure we were refilled as much as we wanted, and was just generally on the ball. No complaints there. And you know that the price is going to be right, yeah? The Guy and I had plenty of lunch for under twenty bucks. We tried three soups, had plenty of somewhat-boring but decently fresh salad, and all the peach tea I could manage. This place is massive (seats nearly 300,) but it's divided up into smaller rooms via arches and whatnot, so it doesn't feel like some cavernous cafeteria space. Plus they don't seem to mind if you linger, since there's a hundred other tables.
(3)Eileen N.
HORRIBLE!! My husband and I went there and waited to be seated. We continued to wait as others were being seated before us, including people that walked in the door after us! When I asked them about this, they couldn't give me an answer. So we were finally seated. Then we had no waitress or waiter approach us after waiting 20 minutes. I asked someone who had our section and that employee would be right over. No one came so we walked out. Terrible customer service! We have not returned to that location. We go to the one in KCK @ Legends and get treated properly.

Visited once, liked the ambience and the food too, salad and desserts are worth a note here and the service was great.

Sunday late lunch. Full restaurant. We were fortunate to get a waitress named Sophie. She knew the menu so well that when I ordered Chicken Marsala, she asked which one I preferred. They offer a stuffed chicken marsala which I chose and was delighted with. She suggested a wine that Bob offered. She was so busy but calmly coping. When we asked for the check I told her how impressed we were. She said that it was to do with the managers and their training. Since that lunch we heard someone else mention the training at Olive Garden. Sophie had been on the job for two months. Way,to go Olive Garden. P.S. Sophie was as delightful as the food.

I had attempted to visit this Olive Garden one other time a couple of months ago and walked out, because I couldn't get anyone to wait on me. Today was a complete 180 degrees from that first experience. My server was Chris. He was the highlight of our experience there. We kept it simple for lunch. We were on a AYCE soup, salad, and breadsticks mission. Salad refills...check! Soda refills...check! Soup refills...check! We waited for NOTHING. Chris was awesome. We ordered the basics, so there's really no need to review the food here. The service made all the impact today. If you go here to eat and don't ask for Chris, then don't blame anyone for your crappy service but yourself. I was watching other tables around us with a different server sit with empties on their table pretty consistently.

4 stars. Love the free breadsticks and salad. Rest of meal very average but keep the breadsticks comin.

My fiancé and I ordered some food Togo after a long trip back from Truman lake, on a very hot day. We called and was told it'd be ready in 20 minutes. We ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for our food. The food is basic olive garden food. I would have given it 3.5 or rounded up to 4 except when I opened my caesar salad (which a friend told me they made it decently) it was only the plain iceberg lettuce from the salad that they give with ever meal. It didn't have slices of Parmesan and they has given me ranch. When you serve mediocre food, at least do it right and with a smile. I always tip for Togo orders but this is one of the few times I regret tipping.

Been to many Olive Garden locations, this one has definitely been around a long time, but still manages to be my favorite. Ive never had a wait time over 10 minutes, even on prime-dinner times. Service is always good, food is always.. well, its Olive Garden. Definitely not the best Italian in the world, but you get what you pay for.
(5)Dawn C.
This review is specifically for their catering. Our office ordered catering for a meeting recently for a group of 35. I have to admit when I heard it would be Olive Garden I wasn't impressed. I imagined big pans of greasy pasta and mounds of bread sticks, and a killer carbohydrate coma all afternoon. I am pleased to report I was PLEASANTLY surprised! Wow, tasty. The only thing that wasn't appetizing was the iceberg lettuce salad. But then again I can be a salad snob so Olive Garden probably wasn't going to get five stars out of me for their salad alone. I haven't been to an Olive Garden in a long time (4 years?) and I think they've been making changes I'd like to explore further. The baked ziti was delicious, lots of cheese without being greasy, how DID they do that? I had a small serving of the lasagna and also found it to be really good, no mushy noodles, great tasting sauce. The star for me was the mushroom and steak ravioli with the white cream sauce. Wow. Since I had just grabbed two little pieces, I went back for a few more and was even tempted to go back again... luckily at just the right moment "Oh no! Danger!" said my waistline. Our meeting ran a little late but the food handled the delay well. There were mounds of those long garlicky bread sticks and I couldn't resist having a few bites, but it was light in texture and didn't make me feel like I'd eaten a brick. We even had little cups of dessert, the chocolate one (always my first pick) was very chocolatey and had a light mousse-like texture. The chocolate curls on top were a nice touch. I would be very glad to see Olive Garden on the menu again at my next meeting.

After a horrible experience at another location, we went to this location Monday night. There was a wait so we chose to eat in the bar. Normally when you sit in the bar section without another server you have questionable service but this was not the case. Jennie was amazing. She tended bar and had excellent service of everyone. In a world were you find more bad experiences than good, it was refreshing to have such great service. Food was good but the service stood out above everything else.
(5)Heidi B.
Yuck! This place is disgraceful now. The last time I went to an Olive garden was two years ago and back then it was delicious. The salad is lacking in the olives, tomatoes, onions, and pepperoncini department ( 1 olive, 2 tomato slices, a sprinkle of onion, and 1 pepperoncini). The pasta was horrid, over cooked, under seasoned, and just plain underwhelming. Their mozz and zuchini fried app was definitely frozen and from a box, it was yucky! The waitress wasn't even trying. Never ever going back.
(1)Ashley H.
I went to the olive garden the other day on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised that we were seated so quickly and taken care of. We had wonderful wine, food, and appetizers, and our waitress was great. Definitely recommend this location to anyone in the area! Ashley

It seems to be pointless to review Olive Garden, but I like this place so here goes. Disclosure: Yes, I understand it is not authentic Italian food. I have been to Italy, where I have eaten real Italian food. I am willing to just accept it for what it is and not try and make it something that it's not. I used to go here for the pasta, but I think every time I did, I would stuff myself so thoroughly on salad and breadsticks that the pasta would show up just as I'm ready to push away from the table. Then I stopped going for a long time because it started feeling same-samey. Lately, though, I've been going just for soup and salad and holy crap, it is AWESOME. One caveat though, many of the other patrons are usually a little...on the older and larger side...and this always makes me want to stop eating and immediately go to the gym. But, this is 'merica, after all. If you can just wear horse blinders and focus only on your food and your friends, you can have a pretty good time. I've been having cappuccino afterwards. Yeah so it's probably just some crappy low-quality brand, but it's good enough. The people at Olive Garden are totally OK if you want to sit in a booth and just waste hours. Whereas when I used to eat the pasta I needed to take a nap immediately, just chilling with the salad and soup leaves me still able to do other things over the course of the day. One thing many people may not know is that if you get the unlimited soup and salad, if you happen to finish a bowl of soup, you can order a different type on the next go-round. Just be forewarned, their soup is actually pretty filling.

Ahhhh the McDonald's of Italian food. I think maybe when i was 13 "and didn't know any better" I thought this was some good eats. The only reason I even went here was because my friend really likes this place. Needless to say, she needs some serious help! ;) This was by far some of the worst food I have had in a long time. I think I ordered some portabella mushroom ravioli . It was HORRIBLE. I think the cheese was bad and it possibly was sitting under a heat lamp for a few weeks. I sent it back, they did ask me if I wanted anything else and I politely said no. So, I just had some salad and A LOT of wine to help me forget the garbage I just put in my mouth. I really don't like to be so negative, there just wasn't anything positive about this place, other than the wine and getting my meal removed off my bill.
(1)Sally Y.
We went on mother's day it was busy but we were seated about 8 minutes. Our waitress was so distracted and wasn't around much. I ordered the combination tour of Italy. It took over 30 minutes to get our dinner. When I got my meal the lasagna looked like sloppy joes. I couldn't tell what it was so I finally saw our waitress after 20 minutes and gave it back to her. She wasn't too happy. But she wasn't the one who's paying for a crappy meal. Overall It was the worst olive garden I've ever been too. I won't be going there ever again. Oh plus the waitress spilled some cheese on me and didn't say sorry. It was horrible customer service.
(1)Kim N.
This place is not for people looking for Dairy Free. I try to avoid eating here at all cost. There are only two things on the entire menu that do not have butter, milk or cheese in them. Those two items are the steak and the steak kabob. I like steak. I mean, I live in Kansas it is kinda required to like steak here, but I like the ones we grill at home better. The Olive Garden is cheap fast food italian. They are nice enough to make me my own salad with no cheese and bake a few bread sticks that are not smoothered in Butter, but that doesn't make up for that fact that there are only two menu items I can eat. This place is like eating Italian out of a can. Seriously canned tamato sauce and dried pasta are better.

My family and I have frequented this restaurant probably a dozen times in the past three years. It used to be nice, a place where you could get a decent and tasty meal for a good price. Well, it has gotten steadily worse over time, and after last night's experience, we will never go to this Olive Garden again. Initially I was pleased because we were seated quickly which is unusual for this place; normally you have to wait quite a while. The waitress immediately asked if we would like to sample some wine. This is a trend I don't appreciate that Olive Garden has moved toward - intense promotion of their offering of wines by the wait staff as well as on the menu. If I want a glass of wine, I will order one, but I don't like feeling pushed into it. The same approach is taken with the desserts. I suspect it is because these are high profit margin items. When placing our order, we were told that it would take a little longer since my son ordered the salmon. I did not exactly understand this; they were not that busy and salmon doesn't take that long to cook. I ordered the apricot chicken entree which I have had before and really liked. My husband got lasagna. Of course, salad and bread sticks were served first; I had to pick out several wilted or brown pieces of lettuce. I'v had better salads at Wendy's! When our entrees finally came, then I understood why it took so long. The chef needed all that time to overcook the salmon and the chicken! Thankfully salmon is naturally full of moisture and my son's piece was thick, so inside the dry exterior his fish was tender. My chicken, on the other hand, was dry and required a knife to cut. I should have sent it back, but halfway through our dinner, the loudest and most obnoxious family I have ever witnessed in a restaurant was seated next to us. Needless to say, we not going to stay an extra minute. I had a stomach ache all night and did not sleep well after this lovely dining experience. We will go to Carrabba's next time.

Eek! Methinks not. Very disappointing. My spaghetti and meat sauce was only moderately warm. The sausage my husband had ordered with his spaghetti was raw in the middle so he sent it back. By the time his meal came out a second time, I had finished my dinner so he had them put it in a to-go box. To the manager's credit, she comped both meals. The waitress was delightful and I felt bad for her. Lastly, the backs of the upholstered chairs at the tables really, really need some upholstery cleaner, or to be reupholstered. Extremely dirty. Would not go back unless and until we see the ratings for this restaurant improve. Unfortunate.

What justifies a visit to Olive Garden exactly? Is it the location? There aren't exactly loads of local restaurants along Metcalf. Is it the portions? Its hard to say no to that bread basket covered in garlic salt, eh? How about - my mother dragged me - enough said. But I've been 'dragged' here more than most I'm assuming - for some reason I seem to have many friends that love this place (I wonder what that could mean...) Anyway, I feel like I've earned some kind of OG badge for spending over a certain amount there (and my gut tells me many yelp readers could too - but I understand that eating at OG isn't something many people want to 'yelp' about - bad pun...) When I was younger my best friend's parents always got us take-out (I'm talking 5th grade here), she introduced me to the OG chicken parm, a saucy, cheesy, breaded number enough for two people and served for one - I was a chubby kid, what can I say?! haha Truth is, I liked the bread sticks and my mom's Italian was a lot worse (I'm Irish), so I didn't have much to complain about here. When Jenny's downtown closed (and along with it the best damn lasagna in KC), my family never really recovered, you could say. I think Olive Garden loses obvious points for not being too authentic, for using bacon instead of pancheta, things like that. The food is hit or miss - and either served after too much time under the heating lights or served lukewarm (and lukewarm cream-based sauce is absolutely disgusting!) But I've stuck with the chicken parm over the years and every time it tastes the exact same - some call it bland and safe, but this particular plate certainly won't be the worst thing on the menu - and that's what I strive for in my visits. Trick of the trade: the first basket of bread is never their freshest batch - the second one is - I don't know why it works out like that, but every time you'll get warmer, softer bread. Okay, so that's my secret: I eat at Olive Garden more than I should admit...and why I've chosen to tell all of you know...I DON'T KNOW! ahahah, oh well, it is what it is!

Love the Salad and Fried Ravioli.....The fried Ravioli is on the appetizer menu but I always order this as my meal. We also love to order a bowl of the Alfredo sauce to dip our bread in....SO YUMMY NOM NOM NOM

Going to Olive Garden reminds me of a simpler time in my life... junior high, high school maybe? My first day at my new job, I get told I'm to have lunch with my manager and "meet the rest of the team." Lo and behold, I was later informed we were going to the Olive Garden. Going for something simple, I decided to go for the unlimited salad, soup, and breadsticks deal. The salad was alright, typical salad, though the dressing tended to be all the way at the bottom of the bowl. The breadsticks were decent, however, I noticed the ends were somewhat of a crunchier consistency when compared to the warm, soft middle part of the stick. The soup I ordered was the Chicken and Gnocchi. I had a gnocchi dish at another Italian restaurant, had a good experience, and was fairly excited to eat it again at the Olive Garden. To my dismay, my serving of soup merely included 2-3 miniscule pieces of gnocchi. My other team members who ordered the same were also dissatisfied with the amount. Nonetheless, for the cheap price what can you expect, right?

We have eaten at many different Olive Gardens, and although this location wasn't very busy, the food and service were good. Jeff, our server, was very attentive, even after four other tables were seated in our area. I would like to come here again. :)

If you've been to the Olive Garden, you know it's not fine cuisine. With that being said, we go there probably once a month, because we can get some decent pasta, and all the salad and breadsticks in the world. I personally love the salad, and if you can load up on salad and breadsticks, then I can take the rest of my pasta home and stretch the meal into dinner and tomorrow's lunch. Sometimes the service leaves something to be desired, but overall, we like going. It's good bang for your buck when you want to go out and sit down for dinner rather than just grabbing fast food.

With the air-conditioning finally repaired, this restaurant is back up to its superior service and quality again. Deb is fantastic and always around to make sure everything is to our liking and Abby made this dining experience FIRST RATE - we are definitely BAAACCCKKK to enjoying the Olive Garden.

Food is amazing, service is terrible. You have been warned. Need to speak loudly and clearly to the waiters. Other than that, great food. It's a bit pricey for frequent dining on a budget.

This review is for the evening of May 25. We told our relatives we liked Italian food, and this is what they brought us to. It was just OK. A couple of peeves: There wasn't nearly enough dressing on the salad, and the waiter put the check down next to someone else after my husband told him at least once to give it to him. We couldn't believe this was the best Italian restaurant our relatives could find in Kansas City.
